As the number of shows and movies available to stream in Australia continues to grow at an impressive rate, it can be tough to keep up with all the new additions to each streaming service each month.
We've all come to anticipate a new stable of Netflix Originals releases each month, but figuring out which shows they are and when exactly they become available isn't so easy. And what about the large number licensed shows and films that are made available to stream, if only for a limited time?
In an effort to keep you informed of the best shows and movies that are in the process of being added to Netflix, we'll be bringing you an updated list of what you can expect on the service on a monthly basis.
Not only that, we'll also be singling out the biggest releases, as well as a number of quality TV shows and films which we believe deserve your Netflixing time.
A fairly decent month in terms of Originals, Netflix has a number of great new TV shows, specials and movies on offer – here's what's new on Netflix in August 2020. Check out Netflix's newest offerings below!

TV shows highlights for August 2020
The Rain: Season 3 (6/8/2020)
The third gripping season of Netflix's series The Rain picks up years after said rain has decimated the population of Scandinavia. Now, Simone and Rasmus are the only ones who can save humanity – the only problem is both want to achieve that goal in very opposing ways.
Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story (14/8/2020)
The second story in what has become a 'Dirty John' anthology series of true crime tales, Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story sees the titular socialite (played by Amanda Peet) turn homicidal during a bitter divorce from her unfaithful husband, Dan (Christian Slater). If it's anything like the first season, Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story will be full of shocking twists and turns.
Hoops (21/8/2020)
In this new (and very adult) animated series, a foul-mouthed high school basketball coach (Jake Johnson) sets the lofty goal of taking his team the big leagues. Unfortunately, the team is awful and so are his coaching techniques. An animated comedy that could go either way, we hope there's more to Hoops than a lot of swearing.
Cobra Kai: Seasons 1-2 (28/8/2020)
In the lead up to its highly anticipated third season, the first two seasons of the utterly fantastic former YouTube Original series Cobra Kai are coming to Netflix. For those who aren't familiar with the show, Cobra Kai picks up decades after the original Karate Kid movies, with ex-school bully Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) opening his own Cobra Kai dojo. This sets off alarm bells for Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), who fears Cobra Kai's toxic Karate methods will be instilled into a new generation of kids. Nostalgic and surprisingly funny, Cobra Kai is a must-watch for fans of The Karate Kid.

Project Power (14/8/2020)
In Netflix's latest foray into blockbuster movie territory, an ex-soldier (Jamie Foxx), a teen (Dominique Fishback) and a cop (Joseph Gordon Levitt) collide in New Orleans as they hunt for the source behind a dangerous new pill that grants users temporary superpowers. Looking a bit like a street-wise version of X-Men, Project Power may very well be Netflix's next big hit film.
